Before the sun goes down

Now is the time to have a pair of swim shorts at the ready; you never know when you will have the opportunity to go to a pool party, out on a boat or be able to divert on your way home and have a quick dip in the sea.

I have a tip for you, avoid the traffic on the way home and scoot to the nearest bit of sea. Have a set of shorts and a fresh t-shirt and pumps or flip flops, a beach towel and a fun beach bag to keep it all together in the boot, so you are ready for action at the first sign of a traffic jam.

Most offices allow you to wear shorts – but there is a right and a wrong way. Bermudas that are longer than swim shorts are most suitable and these, with a polo shirt and driving shoes or white pumps (no flip flops in the office please) and then you can turn up at that impromptu BBQ looking fine instead of flustered.

There are all sorts around this year with the classic red, white and blue, strong colours and delicious pastels too across the ranges in store from Barbour, Fynch-Hatton, PRL, Hackett, Ben Sherman. And from Vilebrequin and MC2 comes an injection of lively patterns and contemporary clothes that add that little bit extra.

Swim shorts have never been so fun and now with differing lengths, fabrics and fits, from short, to stretchy to longer and ‘lined’, there’s really no excuse to not be in the water every day!

What are you waiting for? Ejja ha mmoru il-bahar? (my latest Maltese phrase…)
